James Charles

James Charles is an internet personality, makeup artist, and model best known for being the first male CoverGirl spokesperson.

James launched his YouTube channel, which focuses on makeup, in 2015. Today, he is among the most popular makeup artists in the game, with over 16 million YouTube subscribers and over 15 million Instagram followers.

At the age of seventeen, Charles became the first male spokesmodel for cosmetics brand CoverGirl, working alongside brand ambassador Katy Perry. As the first male spokesmodel and brand ambassador for CoverGirl, Charles is the face of the So Lashy! by BlastPro Mascara.

Charles launched his modeling career when he walked the runway for MarcoMarco's Six 1/2 collection during Los Angeles Fashion Week in 2017.

In 2018, Charles collaborated with Morphe Cosmetics to release an eyeshadow palette. In January 2019, he was invited to Birmingham, England, to open the company's second UK store, where over 7,000 fans showed up to see him.

In March 2019, Charles did the makeup for Iggy Azalea's music video shoot for "Sally Walker". He also made a cameo appearance in the video.

A YouTube controversy involving Charles’ longtime collaborator Tati Westbrook earned Charles the title of first ever YouTube personality to lose over one million subscribers in 24 hours. His apology video to Westbrook became one of the 10 most disliked videos in YouTube history. However, Charles regained one million subscribers after releasing another video addressing the controversy.

In 2020, Charles will host, direct and executive produce a reality competition show titled “James Charles Instant Influencer.” He will pick one up-and-coming makeup artist as the winner of a $50,000 cash prize, and the series will be released weekly on Charles’ YouTube channel. The four-part series will be funded by YouTube.
