Levine graduated from Amherst College, winning both Woodrow Wilson and Fulbright Fellowships, and earned his doctorate at Harvard. In 1984, "Esquire" magazine recognized him as one of the 100 "Men Under 40 Who Are Changing America." In 1995, he served as a consultant to Vice President Gore in drafting the new federal initiative on fatherhood. In May 1997, "Working Mother" magazine recognized him as one of the top 25 men in America who make a difference in the lives of working mothers. In April 1998, ABC's "20/20" profiled his work.

Levine has given presentations throughout the world to such leading companies as Alcoa, Apple Computer, Boeing, Chase Bank, Goldman Sachs, IBM, J.P. Morgan, Merrill-Lynch, Texas Instruments and many more. He has appeared on all the major television and radio shows in the United States, including Today, Good Morning America, Nightline and Oprah. He appears monthly on-line for Parents magazine at Parents.com.

Levine is the author of seven books and over 100 articles. His most recent books are "New Expectations: Community Strategies for Responsible Fatherhood" and "Working Fathers: New Strategies for Balancing Work and Family". He was executive producer for a two-hour PBS documentary special, "Fatherhood U.S.A.", which aired nationally during the week of Father's Day in 1998.
