Jamie Gruman

Dr. Jamie Gruman, an expert in "people" issues in organizations, is one of Canada's leading authorities in workplace well-being and organizational on-boarding programs. Trained as an applied social psychologist, he is a professor of organizational behavior at the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada, and is the founding Chair of the Canadian Positive Psychology Association.

Dr. Gruman has had a lifelong passion for knowing how to live and work as richly and effectively as possible. A major theme of his work is how to understand and promote "positive"​ workplace outcomes and forms of workplace well-being such as engagement, psychological capital (hope, optimism, resilience, and confidence), workplace spirituality, and mindfulness. He suggests that the term "human resources" should be retired and replaced with "human resourcefulness." He is co-developer of "Socialization Resources Theory"​ and "The Engagement Management Model";​ coined the terms "e-socialization" and "employee voice engagement"; and developed the "ReNU​ model" of effective leisure time recovery, and the "PHRAME model" of positive human resourcefulness and management. His book "Boost: The Science of Recharging Yourself in an Age of Unrelenting Demands" summarizes what research tells us about how to most successfully recover from work and other daily obligations so we can be happy, healthy and effective.

Dr. Gruman has authored numerous books and has published papers in some of the world's top-ranked business journals. Cited in media outlets around the globe, including NBC News, TIME, "Oprah," and Fast Company, among others, his writing has been featured by the World Economic Forum. A frequent keynote speaker, Dr. Gruman addresses Fortune 500 corporations as well as public and non-profit organizations.
