Jarrod Bernstein

Jarrod Neal Bernstein has held significant roles in both the Bloomberg and Obama administrations, focusing on disaster response, community outreach, and counter-terrorism. With a Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law and additional certification from the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Bernstein brings a unique blend of legal and crisis management expertise to his roles.

Before joining the Obama Administration, Bernstein had a profound impact during his tenure with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He served as Deputy Commissioner of Community Affairs from 2007 to 2009, where he was responsible for community crisis management and outreach related to mayoral programs. During this time, he developed New York City’s Emergency Public Information Plan and initiated the "Ready New York" preparedness campaign, enhancing the city's readiness for disaster scenarios. Later, he progressed to the role of Deputy Commissioner for Community Affairs and chief spokesman for the New York City Office of Emergency Management. Currently, he leads disaster response and recovery efforts in the US Virgin Islands on behalf of former Mayor Bloomberg.

In April 2009, Bernstein transitioned to the Obama Administration, where he initially served as a senior aide to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. He was later appointed as the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, focusing on outreach to the American Jewish community. His tenure at DHS was marked by significant involvement in national crises, including the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and the response to the earthquake in Haiti. Additionally, Bernstein played a pivotal role in coordinating federal aid during Hurricane Sandy, being specifically dispatched by the White House to assist New York City.

After leaving his federal government roles, Bernstein joined CarePoint Health in October 2014 as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, where he leveraged his expertise in community engagement and crisis management. Moreover, his contributions extend beyond professional commitments as he serves as a Board Member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York and Vice-Chair of the US Virgin Islands Public Safety and Support Foundations. He is also a distinguished member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States and the Bar of the State of New York.
