Jay Graber

Lantian "Jay" Graber is a software engineer and the CEO of Bluesky, a decentralized social media platform. Her multicultural upbringing—- her mother, an acupuncturist from China, and her father, a Swiss mathematics teacher -- instilled in her a unique perspective on technology and society.

Graber pursued a Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, and Society at the University of Pennsylvania, where she co-founded a student time bank program during her senior year. Her professional journey includes roles as a software engineer at SkuChain in Mountain View, California, and as a junior developer for the Zcash cryptocurrency. In 2019, she founded Happening, Inc., an event planning website.

In August 2021, Graber became the CEO of Bluesky, a microblogging social platform initially conceived by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey in 2019. Under her leadership, Bluesky has evolved into an independent public benefit corporation, aiming to provide users with greater control over their data and online interactions. The platform's open-protocol operation allows for continuous improvement through user contributions, distinguishing it from traditional social media platforms.
