Jeff Bridges

Born to famed actors Lloyd Bridges and Dorothy Bridges, Jeff Bridges is an actor, musician, and producer who began his career as an infant, with parts in both TV and film. He broke through with his role in "The Last Picture Show," which garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. His early career also involved television appearances in series such as "Sea Hunt" and "The Lloyd Bridges Show" alongside his father and brother.

Following his debut in "The Last Picture Show," Bridges secured more serious roles in films such as "Fat City," "The Last American Hero," and "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot," for which he received another Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. It wasn't until he signed on to the 1973 drama, "The Iceman Cometh," that Bridges seriously considered making a life of acting.

Throughout his career, Bridges has starred in critically acclaimed films such as "Heaven's Gate," "TRON," "The Fisher King," and "The Mirror Has Two Faces." His role in the 1998 Coen brothers' cult hit, "The Big Lebowski," as the iconic character "The Dude," has been particularly beloved by fans. Despite not being an instant commercial success, the film's comic one-liners and quirky characters have led to an annual Lebowski Fest in Louisville, Kentucky, which started in 2002.

Beyond his roles in film and TV, Bridges has also made significant contributions as a producer, notably for the film "The Giver" and the documentary "Living in the Future's Past." He has also provided his talent as a narrator and voice actor for films like "Pablo," "The Little Prince," and "The Aviator," and the documentary "Dream Big: Engineering Our World."

His performance in "The Contender" in 2001 earned him both a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination. In 2009, Bridges received his first Oscar win for his role in the romantic drama "Crazy Heart," earning him the Best Actor award. This was followed by a nomination for his role in the movie "True Grit" and an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for "King Kong." In 2019, Bridges' contributions to film were recognized with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award and in 2024, Bridges received the annual Chaplin Gala Award.

Looking forward, Bridges is set to reprise his roles as Kevin Flynn in the upcoming movie "Tron: Ares" and Dan Chase in the television thriller "The Old Man."
