Jeffrey Pfeffer

Jeffrey Pfeffer is the Thomas D. Dee II Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, where he has taught since 1979. He specializes in management, leadership, and human resources. Pfeffer is the author or co-author of 15 significant books including "Leadership B.S.: Fixing Workplaces and Careers One Truth at a Time," "The Human Equation: Building Profits by Putting People First," and "Hard Facts, Dangerous Half-Truths, and Total Nonsense: Profiting from Evidence-Based Management."

Pfeffer received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and his Ph.D. from Stanford. He began his academic career at the business school at the University of Illinois and then taught for six years at the University of California, Berkeley. Over the years, Pfeffer has been a visiting professor at several prestigious institutions including Harvard Business School, Singapore Management University, and London Business School. For over a decade, Pfeffer has been a visiting scholar at IESE in Barcelona.

In addition to his academic work, Pfeffer has regularly contributed articles to major publications such as Fortune.com, BloombergBusinessWeek.com, the Washington Post, and he is an Influencer on LinkedIn. Pfeffer has also been a keynote speaker at numerous international seminars, presenting in 40 countries on topics that include leadership, evidence-based management, and the impact of management practices on employee well-being.

A recognized figure in the field of organizational behavior, Pfeffer has received several accolades for his contributions, including the Richard D. Irwin Award from the Academy of Management and inclusion in the Thinkers 50 Hall of Fame. He has also been ranked among the Most Influential HR International Thinkers by HR Magazine. In November 2011, Pfeffer was awarded an honorary doctorate from Tilburg University in The Netherlands.

Currently, Pfeffer serves on the advisory boards for Collective Health and Quorso, and on the board of directors of the nonprofit Quantum Leap Healthcare. His dedication to improving business practices extends to his involvement in various boards and advisory roles in the industry, emphasizing his commitment to practical and evidence-based solutions in management.
