Jeffrey R. Tarr

Jeffrey Tarr is the Chief Executive Officer of Skillsoft, an educational technology company that produces learning management system software and content that serves 70% of the Fortune 1000. Under his leadership, Skillsoft has become a publicly traded company, completed multiple acquisitions to expand its capabilities, and rapidly grown its global community of learners.

Over the course of his career, Tarr has focused on transforming data-intensive businesses into industry leaders, infusing organizations with a strong sense of purpose, leading them to better serve their customers, enhance their business models, capitalize on new technologies, and unlock new markets. Prior to Skillsoft, he served as Chief Executive Officer of DigitalGlobe, the world leader in satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence; President and Chief Operating Officer of IHS (now part of S&P Global); and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the publicly-traded business information innovator, Hoovers (now part of Dun & Bradstreet). He began his career with Bain & Company.

Tarr currently serves on the board of EchoStar and is a member of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. Previously, Tarr served as Chairman of the school’s Management Board and on the boards of DSST Public Schools and The Corporate Executive Board Company (CEB); as Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum Council on the Future of Space Technologies; and as Co-Chair of the Annual Meeting of New Champions in Dalian, China. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Tarr holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs.
