Dr. Jeni Stolow is a social and behavioral scientist who works at the intersection of medical anthropology, public health, and infectious disease outbreak response. Dr. Stolow responds to the COVID-19 pandemic as the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network (GOARN) Research Focal Point for Risk Communication and Community Engagement.
Dr. Stolow has expertise in qualitative methods, ethnography, risk communication, health promotion, community-based participatory research, as well as health behavior programming and evaluation. Her content specialization includes global maternal and child health, arboviruses, One Health, and infectious disease outbreak response.
Examples of Dr. Stolow’s recent work include a study of Zika virus risk communication and virus prevention in Brazil, an evaluation of Ebola survivor programming in Sierra Leone, and ethnographic research of postnatal care practices in rural Cambodia. Dr. Stolow’s goal is to partner with communities to implement rapid, effective, equitable, and sustainable responses to behavior change and infection control. She holds a Ph.D and MPH from Tulane University in Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences.
