Jeremy Strong Biography

Jeremy Strong is an actor known for his methodical approach to acting, often featuring in movies that depict real-life events. His career has been decorated with numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award. In 2022, Strong was listed among Time's 100 most influential people in the world. He returned to Broadway in 2024, securing a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his role in Henrik Ibsen's revival, "An Enemy of the People."

Strong found his passion for acting at an early age, engaging with a children's theater group and performing in musicals. His academic journey led him to Yale University, followed by further acting studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. Strong gained experience with minor roles in plays throughout the 2000s. His off-Broadway debut was in 2006 with John Patrick Shanley's "Defiance," followed by his first Broadway appearance in 2008, playing Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich in "A Man for All Seasons."

Strong's debut in film was in "Humboldt County," where he played the character of medical student Peter Hadley. His film portfolio grew as he portrayed several historical figures, including John George Nicolay in "Lincoln," Lee Harvey Oswald in "Parkland," James Reeb in "Selma," Jerry Rubin in "The Trial of the Chicago 7," and Roy Cohn in "The Apprentice," the latter of which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Alongside these performances, Strong also held supporting roles in critically acclaimed films like "Zero Dark Thirty," "The Big Short," "Molly's Game," and "Armageddon Time," which premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

On the small screen, Strong held recurring roles in TV series like "The Good Wife" and "Masters of Sex." In 2018, he broke new ground with the role of media conglomerate heir Kendall Roy in HBO's drama series "Succession." His performance in "Succession" not only earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in 2020 and a Golden Globe Award in 2022 but also led to his recognition as "Performer of the Year" by TVLine in 2021. Aside from his acting career, Strong delved into production in 2021, taking on the role of star and producer for "The Best of Us," a TV series commemorating the 9/11 first responders.
