Jermaine Fowler

Jermaine Fowler is an American actor, comedian, and writer, recognized for his versatile roles in film and television as well as his stand-up comedy.

Fowler first made a name for himself through stand-up, performing extensively, including national tours with College Humor and Comedy Central on Campus. He moved to New York City in 2008 to further pursue his comedy career and was eventually selected as one of Variety’s “New Faces” at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal in 2012. His breakthrough in television came with the CBS sitcom "Superior Donuts," where he not only starred as Franco Wicks, a young entrepreneur, but also served as an executive producer.

In the film industry, Fowler has taken on significant roles, including starring in “Coming 2 America” (2021), where he played Lavelle Junson, the long-lost son of Prince Akeem, opposite Eddie Murphy. His filmography continued to grow with roles in “Sorry to Bother You,” which premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January 2018, and in “The Drop,” produced by the Duplass Brothers. Most recently, Fowler appeared in "The Blackening," a feature by Tim Story that premiered at TIFF in 2022, and can be seen in "Retreat" for FX.

Beyond his acting career, Fowler has also made contributions to television as a co-creator and star of the truTV sketch-comedy series “Friends of the People.” He showcased his comedic talent in his own SHOWTIME special titled “Give ‘Em Hell Kid,” and served as the on-camera announcer for the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Fowler continues to develop new content across various media platforms, maintaining a presence in both the film and television industry.
