Jesse Holland

Jesse J. Holland is an award-winning journalist with over 20 years of public success, focusing on race, ethnicity, demographics, and Afro-futurism. His expertise positions him uniquely at the intersection of African American history, politics, journalism, creative writing, and culture. His literary contributions include the novel "Black Panther: Who Is the Black Panther?" and the nonfiction "The Invisibles: The Untold Story of African American Slaves in the White House." He also authored "Black Men Built The Capitol: Discovering African American History In and Around Washington, D.C." and the junior novel "Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Finn’s Story."

In his role as an AP Race & Ethnicity writer, Holland continues to impact discussions on racial and cultural issues. He also engages audiences as a weekend host for C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. His academic contributions are significant, with positions in teaching creative nonfiction in the Master of Fine Arts program at Goucher College in Towson, MD, and previous roles teaching journalism ethics at the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University and the University of Arkansas.

Holland holds a doctorate in Humane Studies from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, TN, a Master of Fine Arts degree in Nonfiction from Goucher College, and a liberal arts degree from the University of Mississippi.
