Jewell Loyd

Jewell Loyd is a guard for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball at the University of Notre Dame, earning recognition as ACC Player of the Year and ESPN's women's college basketball player of the year in her final season. Loyd entered the WNBA as the first overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Seattle Storm, an achievement swiftly followed by her winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. She has also been named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2015 and the All-WNBA Teams several times. In addition to her individual accolades, Loyd has led the Storm to WNBA Championships in 2018 and 2020 and won the Commissioner's Cup championship in 2021.

Internationally, Loyd has represented the United States, achieving success at both the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics, where she won gold medals. She was also a significant contributor to the United States squads that won gold at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. Her prowess on the court has earned her the nickname "Gold Mamba."

Outside her professional career, Loyd has also played overseas in Turkey, China, Korea, and Spain during the WNBA offseason. Off the court, Loyd advocates for mental health awareness and youth sports. She actively promotes empowerment programs for young women and girls in sports, showcasing her commitment as a leader and influencer in women's basketball.
