Jim Coulter Biography
James Coulter is an American billionaire businessman. He is the CEO and founding partner of the private equity firm TPG Capital, originally known as the Texas Pacific Group. Founded in 1992, TPG manages over $60 billion in assets in more than 130 countries.
Coulter is also co-chair of the Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) Commission. The LEAD Commission was created in response to a challenge from the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Department of Education to develop a blueprint detailing the opportunity for using technology as a catalyst to improve American education. Coulter also serves as a member of numerous corporate and charitable boards, including Common Sense Media, Creative Artists Agency, J. Crew Group and Chobani. He is on the board of trustees for Dartmouth College and Stanford University.
Coulter holds a B.A. in business and engineering sciences from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
