Jim Jarmusch

Jim Jarmusch is a director, writer, actor, producer and composer. He is known for the deadpan humor and sharp wit in his work. His film Stranger Than Paradise is credited with spearheading the American independent film movement.

As a director, Jarmusch has helmed a number of projects. His filmography includes twelve feature films, two documentaries, six music videos and four short films. He won the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984 for Stranger Than Paradise.

Stranger Than Paradise broke many conventions of traditional Hollywood filmmaking, and became an important work in modern independent film. It was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2002.

He also works in other areas of filmmaking, including producing, acting, editing, writing and composing. He served as the director, screenwriter, composer and producer of his 2003 film Coffee and Cigarettes.

In addition to composing the music for his films, Jarmusch has also released three albums with Jozef van Wissem and three EPs with his rock band SQÜRL.

His most recent film, The Dead Don't Die, stars Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton, and is set to premier as the opening night film of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
