Jimmy John Liautaud (January 12, 1964) is Jimmy John's owner, founder, & chairman.
Liautaud founded Jimmy John's in 1983 using a $25,000 loan from his father, entrepreneur, James P. Liautaud. Jimmy John was able to pay back this loan after 2 years of business, and began opening more stores a year later. After 11 years of operations, the Jimmy John's owner began selling franchises to third parties in 1994.
Today, Jimmy John's has over 2,500 stores in 43 US states, with many more planned for opening in the coming years. Liautaud now supports a variety of philanthropic causes while serving as chairman of Jimmy John's and it's largest individual stockholder. He has been named one of Chicago's 40 under 40, Ernst & Young's Food & Beverage Entrepreneur of the Year, and also won Nation's Restaurant News' Golden Chain award.
