Joanna Lohman

Joanna Lohman is a retired professional soccer player and a former member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team. A professional athlete for over twelve years, Lohman played as a midfielder for several National Women's Soccer League teams, including the Washington Spirit, the Philadelphia Independence, and the Boston Breakers. Notably, she became the first player in Washington Spirit history to have her jersey retired, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Throughout her career, Lohman has utilized her platform to impact people around the world. She is a professional speaker for leading organizations such as the U.S. Department of State, Procter & Gamble, Tedx, Muse, the Minnesota Vikings, Human Rights Campaign, and Qualcomm. Additionally, she has been featured on national platforms like CNN, Fox 5 DC, and Sirius XM, where she discusses important topics such as sports, equality, inclusion, and leadership.

Lohman has also served as a Sport Diplomat, traveling the world and running programs in less developed nations that promote gender equality, conflict resolution, cultural understanding, and economic development. She continues to inspire through her advocacy as a human rights activist. Furthermore, Lohman is the author of "Raising Tomorrow's Champions," which offers parenting and life lessons through stories of the greatest women's soccer players of all time. Her efforts have been recognized by figures such as Billie Jean King, who described her as “a bold and dynamic force for good with the courage to fight for social justice, live authentically, and inspire others to do the same.”

Lohman holds bachelor's degrees in business and math from Pennsylvania State University, where she was a starter on the soccer team all four years of her college experience. In 2002 and 2003, she was the NCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year, and she was a three-time All-American. In 2003, she was the Big 10 Player of the Year.
