John Early

John Early is a comedian, actor, and writer, perhaps best known for his episode of Netflix's The Characters in which he wrote, executive produced and starred in.

He voiced the recurring character of Dirk on Tuca & Bertie, an animated Netflix fan favorite starring Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish. In 2017 Early wrote, created, and starred in a Vimeo original miniseries, 555, with his frequent collaborator Kate Berlant, which was directed by Andrew DeYoung.

Early has appeared in the television shows Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, 30 Rock, Broad City, Difficult People, High Maintenance, Love, and Animals, along with the films films Other People, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Fort Tilden, and The Greggs.

As a stand-up comedian, Early is an Artist in Residence and Comedy Curator at Ars Nova, where he hosts the monthly variety show Showgasm. He performs his solo show Literally Me, a 4-time New York Times Critics' Pick, at Joe's Pub and The Bell House, and he co-hosts a weekly stand up show at Cake Shop. He has performed stand up at various comedy festivals including Montreal Just For Laughs, Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, Pemberton, Treasure Island, Outside Lands, Riot LA, and Festival Supreme.

Early was born in Nashville, Tennessee and is a graduate of the Atlantic Acting School at Tisch School of the Arts NYU.
