John Ferguson

John Ferguson is the Chief Human Resources Officer at NASCAR, the No. 1 form of motorsports in the United States. In this role, Ferguson oversees the development and execution of NASCAR’s human resource (HR) planning, aligning it with the overarching business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This includes cultivating a "people-first" company culture that is empowering, innovative, diverse, inclusive, and collaborative across more than 20 office and race-track locations throughout the U.S.

For nearly a decade, Ferguson served in HR roles at Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) in Washington, D.C., most recently as Vice President of People & Culture. While at MSE, he led the HR function for six sports team properties (including the Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics), four facilities (including Capital One Arena), and more than 2,500 employees.

In 2022, Ferguson was named to the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s annual "40 Under Forty" list and Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America. He serves on the Board of Directors for the SHRM Foundation, Alumni Board of Directors for Furman University, and the UNCF Orlando Leadership Council.

Ferguson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Furman University, an Executive Certificate in Strategic Diversity & Inclusion Management from Georgetown University, and a masters degree in business administration from the Howard University School of Business.
