John E. Ferling is a professor emeritus of history at the University of West Georgia. As a leading historian on the American Revolution and founding era, he has appeared in television documentaries on PBS, the History Channel, C-SPAN Book TV, and the Learning Channel.
He is the author of dozens of books, all but two of which have dealt with the American Revolution and its leaders. He is known for his book, "Shots Heard Round the World: America, Britain, and Europe in the Revolutionary War."
Ferling attended Sam Houston State University and later received a master's degree in history from Baylor University.
