John Mabry

John Mabry’s charmed life took him from a private collegiate Christian education in Texas to acting on major productions including “NCIS”, “ER”, and “Superbad” – while landing national media attention from People Magazine, USA Today and Access Hollywood. However, poor mental health and addiction took him from parties at the Playboy mansion to living in a dilapidated trailer on the banks of the Cumberland River in Tennessee.

Despite a master’s degree in counseling, an invention to his name and multiple public-speaking awards, Mabry experienced more loss than most. He lost a friend and had a leg painfully amputated in a horrifying, fatal car accident – an event that began his downward spiral into a two decade-long battle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorder. Things got significantly worse after he found his best friend dead from an overdose.

Although Mabry has worked in the treatment industry, hosted a recovery podcast and excelled at sharing his story with over 6-million people around the world in years past, he still had relapses and setbacks. Today, Mabry continues to fight back against mental illness and addiction to educate others on these sensitive, yet life and job-threatening topics. He brings his 20+ years of knowledge to businesses and colleges around the country.
