John Trent

John Trent is President of Encouraging Words (Strong Families), a ministry dedicated to strengthening marriage and family relationships worldwide. He frequently conducts seminars and has spoken to over 100,000 people in more than 65 major cities, as well as addressing over 450,000 men at Promise Keepers conferences. Trent has also developed popular seminars such as “Strong Relationships in Stressful Times,” mixing humor with practical steps, and his keynote program “Lions, Otters, Golden Retrievers + Beavers,” based on his co-authored book "The Two Sides of Love," has been influential in aiding individuals and groups in enhancing their interpersonal relationships.

In his writing career, Trent has authored and co-authored over a dozen award-winning and best-selling books, with notable works including "The Blessing," which has sold over 2 million copies and forms a core part of his teachings at StrongFamilies, and "The Language of Love." His literary contributions extend to children’s literature with books such as "The Treasure Tree" and its sequel "The Two Trails," both designed to help children understand their intrinsic value, as well as "There’s a Duck in My Closet!" and "I’d Choose You!" which translate the concept of “the blessing” into terms accessible to young readers.

Apart from his roles in ministry and writing, Trent has made significant appearances on various media platforms. He has been a featured guest on programs including Dr. Jim Dobson’s Focus on the Family and CNN’s Sonya Live. His earlier career milestones include serving as an associate pastor at Northwest Bible Church, Dallas, Texas, and as the first Family Life Pastor at Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. Currently, he leads his ministry, Encouraging Words, in Arizona, continuing his long-standing commitment to strengthening family ties and fostering effective personal relationships.
