Jonathan Mayes

Jonathan Mayes is a DEI expert and the former Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Albertsons Companies. A nationally-known speaker on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics, he has presented at conferences, major universities, and corporations across the U.S. Mayes leads his company's award-winning DEI initiatives, and is a Certified Diversity Executive. He has been twice named one of the Top 100 Diversity & Inclusion executives in the U.S. and serves as the CEO of Jonathan Mayes & Associates, advising organizations on DEI efforts.

A former corporate lawyer and litigator, Mayes brings a wealth of passion, experience, and expertise to inspire positive change. He offers insights on conscious leadership and forward-thinking business practices, challenging audiences to recognize the reality of bias and provides tools for creating more innovative, successful, diverse, and inclusive workplaces. Mayes has received numerous awards such as the Distinguished Alumni Citation for Professional Achievement and the Martin Luther King Jr. Service Award from Willamette University, and the 2022 Esther Peterson Award for outstanding service to the supermarket industry by the Food Marketing Institute. He has been honored as the Alumnus of the Year by Warner Pacific University and has received accolades from the San Francisco Bay Area Minority Bar Coalition and Charles Houston Bar Association for his contributions to the legal community. He is a Certified Equity Coach with the USC Race and Equity Center and continues to influence the next generation as a guest lecturer at institutions like UC Berkley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, USC Marshall School of Business, and Portland State University.
