Joseph Parent

Dr. Joe Parent is a world-renowned expert in Performance Psychology and Applied Mindfulness, working with athletes, actors, artists, and executives. He graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University, then received a National Institutes of Health fellowship at the University of Colorado to complete his Ph.D. in Social Psychology. He also studied with Chögyam Trungpa of Tibet, one of the great meditation masters of the last century, earning a doctor of practice and study degree in that tradition.

Parent has significantly contributed to sports psychology, particularly in golf, where he is recognized as a distinguished PGA TOUR and LPGA Sports Psychologist/Instructor. His pioneering work includes introducing Zen and other Eastern mindfulness principles to the mental game of golf, earning him a spot in Golf Digest Magazine's list of "Top Mental Game Experts in the World." His first book, "ZEN GOLF: Mastering the Mental Game," is a #1 best-seller, with over a million copies sold worldwide in ten different languages. He has also authored other notable works, including "ZEN TENNIS: Playing in the Zone," "THE BEST DIET BOOK EVER: The Zen of Losing Weight," and "A WALK IN THE WOOD: Meditations on Mindfulness with a Bear Named Pooh."

In addition to his writing and coaching, Dr. Parent has coached celebrities and athletes across various fields and has been featured on major networks such as ESPN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and The Golf Channel. His expertise is further shared through teaching sessions at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa Resort in Southern California.
