Josh Barro is an American journalist and creator of "Very Serious," a Substack newsletter about politics and the economy. He also hosts the "Very Serious" podcast and is co-host of "Serious Trouble," a weekly legal affairs podcast.
Barro previously hosted the weekly radio program "Left, Right, & Center" based at KCRW Los Angeles and served as a senior editor and columnist at Business Insider, where he wrote commentary on politics, business, and the economy. Before joining Business Insider, he was a founding correspondent at The Upshot, the economics and data section of The New York Times. Before that, he was Business Insider's politics editor. Prior to entering journalism, he worked in policy research for think tanks and as a real-estate banker at Wells Fargo.
Barro holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Harvard College.
