Jovan Todorovic

Born in former Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Jovan dreamt of a world where he could weave together new ideas.

He moved on to study Directing and Photography at Columbia College in Chicago and later received his MFA in Film Directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Serbia.

With a diverse background as a photographer for commercial photography and as a director for commercial broadcasting and music videos, Jovan stresses his talents with a strong sense of art direction, use of light, and qualities of contemporary style.

His passion in both fields often merge together where his sense of photography feeds on a cinematic approach and his work in film relies on his knowledge of photography.

His work demonstrates that he is a storyteller with the use of imagery, capturing honesty and emotion with a little bit of glamour.

Jovan approaches his work with charm and poise, attracting his peers with an outlook that makes his strict and professional attitude seamless and enjoyable. His belief is that mutual respect, collaborative spirit, and professionalism in the end will determine the basis for success.

He commits to overseeing all phases of the technical and creative process, creating unique worlds of his imagination, propelling ideas to life, and centering his focus on the mood of what he captures, as well as adding layers of meaning and richness to them.

Jovan has been selected as a jury member for the Young Director Award in place of Serbia in Cannes.

In addition, his MTV Spots received Ogilvy’s David Award Grand Prix for Best TVC’s in East Europe in 2010, his PAN Beer spots received the Award For Best TV Spots in the beverages category at the 2011 IdejaX Festival in Croatia, and his “We know Our Numbers” commercial for T-Com received the golden bell for Best TVC at the Croatian FESTO.

Jovan is based in New York City.
