Julia Ioffe Biography
Julia Ioffe, a founding partner of Puck News, is a Russian-born journalist and one of America’s foremost voices on Russia-U.S. relations. As a Washington correspondent for the media outlet, she covers national security, foreign relations, and domestic politics from D.C. and Europe.
A former Washington correspondent for GQ magazine and staff writer for The Atlantic, she was also a contributing writer at POLITICO Magazine, where she covered the 2016 election; a contributor at Huffington Post’s Highline; and a columnist at Foreign Policy. Earlier, she was a senior editor at The New Republic and a Moscow-based correspondent for Foreign Policy and The New Yorker. She has appeared on television programs on MSNBC, CBS, PBS, and other news channels as a Russia expert.
Ioffe has been a finalist for the Livingston Award twice: for a 2013 profile of Sen. Rand Paul and a 2011 piece on Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. In 2009, she received a Fulbright scholarship to live and work in Russia. Her upcoming book, "Motherland" tells the story of modern Russia through the history of its women, from revolution to utopia to autocracy.
