Julia Ormond

Julia Ormond is a British actress known for her impressive body of work in film, television, and stage, as well as her dedicated humanitarian efforts. Her breakthrough in cinema came with "The Baby of Mâcon" (1993), but it was her role as Susannah in "Legends of the Fall" (1994) that brought her international fame. She followed this with starring roles in "First Knight" (1995) and "Sabrina" (1995).

Ormond's other significant roles in film include "Smilla’s Sense of Snow" (1997), "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008), and "Che: Part One" (2008). Her portrayal of Eustacia Cutler in HBO’s "Temple Grandin" (2010) earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

In television, she starred in the popular series "Mad Men" (2012), where she portrayed Marie Calvet, the sophisticated and complex mother of Megan Draper. She also played key roles in the series "Witches of East End" (2013-2014), where she portrayed Joanna Beauchamp, a powerful witch and mother; "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" (2020-2021), as the enigmatic and calculating Lt. Elizabeth Kublek; and "The East" (2020), a Dutch war drama where she gave a compelling performance as the narrator of the story.

Ormond remains active in her humanitarian work, particularly in her fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery. As a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador against Trafficking and Slavery, a position she has held since 2005, she founded the Alliance to Stop Slavery and End Trafficking (ASSET), which focuses on eradicating human trafficking and supporting survivors. In 2023, Ormond filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in 1995. The suit also seeks damages from The Walt Disney Company, Miramax, and Creative Artists Agency, claiming that these companies failed to protect her from his abuse.
