Julianna Margulies

Julianna Margulies is an acclaimed actress best known for her Emmy-winning roles on "ER" and "The Good Wife." Born in Spring Valley, New York, she made her feature film debut in 1991 in the Steven Seagal film "Out for Justice." After several small roles on television and in the movies, she gained widespread recognition in the 1990s with her portrayal of nurse Carol Hathaway on "ER," a role that earned her an Emmy Award and solidified her status as a household name.

Margulies has worked solidly ever since leaving the series, taking on a variety of roles on stage and screen, but it was her return to television as Alicia Florrick in "The Good Wife" that marked another high point in her career. Her portrayal of a lawyer navigating a complex personal and professional life earned her two more Emmy Awards, among numerous other accolades. Known for her strong, nuanced performances, Margulies has been lauded for bringing depth to characters who balance personal vulnerability with professional strength, a quality she brought to her character Laura Peterson on Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show."

Margulies made her Broadway debut in 2006 in "Festen." She returned to the Great White Way in the stage adaptation of Delia Ephron's bestselling memoir, "Left on Tenth," a true story about love, hope, and the wonder of second chances, in 2024. Margulies released her own autobiography,"Sunshine Girl: An Unexpected Life," in 2021.

She is on the board of the MCC Theater Company in New York City, and is also a supporter of research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis through Project ALS, as well as Erin's Law. She created the educational program, HESP (Holocaust Educator School Partnership) at the Museum of Jewish Heritage as a way to promote Holocaust education in schools.
