Julie Grant

Julie Papanek Grant serves as a Partner at Canaan Partners. Ms. Papanek joined Canaan in 2013 and served as an Associate and Principal. She leads investments in biopharmaceutical and digital health start-up companies. She is a part of the healthcare team. She advices a number of digital health BioPharma companies and go to market strategy. She worked at Genentech in variety of positions spanning marketing, development and business development. This included creating commercial brand plans, forecasting and recommending modifications to Phase III trials designs for marketed and pipeline oncology products. She interned at Proteus Digital Health, identifying market opportunities for their digital health platform and generating business development leads. She also worked in implementing the pilot electronic medical record system at Narayana Hrudayalaya. Ms. Papanek was a Director of Protagonist Therapeutics, Inc. until December 12, 2017. She has also worked closely with and observed on the boards of CytomX, Labrys Biologics, Dermira, ALDEA Pharmaceuticals, Chrono Therapeutics and Glooko. She was a Chairwoman of the Advisory board at Planned Parenthood. She has operational experience in biotechnology and healthcare IT. She has a passion for consumer access and affordability to care. Ms. Papanek holds an M.B.A. from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. She earned an M.Phil. from Cambridge University in BioScience Enterprise and a B.S. from Yale University in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry.
