June Diane Raphael

June Diane Raphael is an American comedic actress and screenwriter, known for her versatile roles in television and film. She gained recognition for her work on the Adult Swim sketch series "NTSF:SD:SUV" and the Yahoo! web series "Burning Love." She is a regular cast member on the Netflix original series "Grace and Frankie." Since 2009, Raphael has been married to comedian and screenwriter Paul Scheer. Together, they co-starred on "NTSF" and co-host the weekly movie review podcast "How Did This Get Made?" Raphael also portrayed Sadie, a recurring character on "New Girl," who is a lesbian gynecologist and friend to the protagonist Jess.

Born to John and Diane Raphael in Rockville Center, New York, Raphael is the youngest of three sisters. After completing high school, she pursued acting at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she met her lifelong best friend and comedy partner, Casey Wilson. The pair later joined New York's Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, creating and performing in the successful two-woman sketch show "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet."

Raphael's collaboration with Wilson extended to the film industry when they moved to Los Angeles in 2005. The duo wrote and had supporting roles in "Bride Wars," featuring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. They have also contributed comedic touches to various scripts in development and penned several romantic comedies. Their film "Ass Backwards," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, featured a notable ensemble cast including Alicia Silverstone and Bob Odenkirk.

Aside from her work with Wilson, Raphael's television credits include appearances on "Happy Endings," "Party Down," "Animal Practice," and "Flight of the Conchords." Her film roles include performances in "Zodiac," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and "Going the Distance." Additionally, she has appeared off-Broadway and collaborated with Wilson on the stage production "The Realest Real Housewives" at the UCB Theater in Los Angeles.
