Kansas

Kansas, an American rock band, was formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1973. Over the course of its career, the band has produced nine gold albums, three multi-platinum albums ("Leftoverture," "Point of Know Return," and "The Best of Kansas"), one other platinum studio album ("Monolith"), and one platinum live double album ("Two for the Show"). The band's single "Dust in the Wind" is a million-selling single, and they appeared on the US Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Kansas performed to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe, and Japan, with their track "Carry On Wayward Son" being the second-most-played track on US classic rock radio in 1995 and No. 1 in 1997.

The band underwent lineup changes in the early 1980s, which impacted their musical direction and lyrical themes. Despite these changes, Kansas continued to release successful albums such as the 1982 album "Vinyl Confessions," which generated a Top 20 hit, "Play the Game Tonight." The band was inducted into the Rock Walk of Fame in Hollywood in 1995 and released the album "Always Never the Same" in 1998, which featured the London Symphony Orchestra. The band continued to release albums into the new millennium, with their live album and DVD titled "Device - Voice - Drum" released in 2002 and an album under the name Proto-Kaw, titled "Before Became After," released in 2004.

In recent years, Kansas has continued to tour and record music. They released a concert recording "There's Know Place Like Home" in 2009, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Music Video Chart. In 2016, they released "The Prelude Implicit" and announced a new full-time guitarist, Zak Rizvi. They celebrated the 40th anniversary of the album "Leftoverture" in 2016 with a tour and live album "Leftoverture Live & Beyond." In 2020, the band released the album "The Absence of Presence" and in 2021, they released "Point of Know Return: Live and Beyond." They also announced the departure of violinist David Ragsdale in 2023 and the rejoining of guitarist Zak Rizvi on April 18, 2024.
