Karolina Pliskova is a Czech professional tennis player. She is a former world No. 1, top-ranked by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) in July 2017.
Pliskova is one of the rising stars in the tennis world. Pliskova has won four singles titles on the WTA Tour. With her twin sister Kristyna, she has also won four WTA doubles titles. They are the first twin sisters to ever win a doubles title in WTA history.
In 2015, Pliskova entered the top ten of the world rankings for the first time and peaked out that year at a high of seventh. She played in her first Grand Slam event at the 2012 French Open and her first WTA tournament win came at the 2013 Malaysian Open.
Plíšková utilizes an extremely aggressive style, highlighted by her powerful, accurate serve as well as her forceful groundstrokes often in tandem with her net play, to extract errors from opponents or win points outright. She also shows accuracy and power on mid-court shots, sometimes following them to net. In the 2016 US Open final, she won 80% of her serve-and-volley points.
