Kate Douglass

Kate Douglass is an American competitive swimmer known for her versatility in swimming events, including medley, breaststroke, and freestyle. Her collegiate career at the University of Virginia has been marked by significant achievements, making her one of the greatest swimmers in NCAA history. She has set national age group records in the 50-yard freestyle and has been coached by Todd DeSorbo.

Douglass has represented the United States at both the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics and has won multiple medals at these events, the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and the World Aquatics Championships. She is a two-time ACC Swimmer of the Year winner in 2022 and 2023, and she has won the Honda Sports Award as the best college female swimmer in both years. In 2022, she won gold medals in the 200 m breaststroke at the World Championships and Olympic Games. Her other athletic accomplishments include winning multiple medals in both long course (50 m) and short course (25 m) swimming events and setting world records in short course (25 m) swimming.

Beyond her swimming career, Douglass has been recognized for her skills in tennis, golf, and track & field, among other sports. She also received the Honda Cup in 2022. Currently studying for her master's degree in statistics after graduating from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in the same field, Douglass has been recognized as an ACC Scholar-Athlete and has been part of the All-ACC Academic Swimming and Diving Team. She is also known as the world's fastest mathematician in the pool, a feat that has earned her features in scientific publications.
