Katie Grimes

Katie Grimes, a competitive swimmer, started her swimming career early, qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 800-meter freestyle at just 15 years of age, making her the youngest member of the US Olympic Team, where she successfully secured fourth place. She also placed second overall in the prelims heats of the 800-meter freestyle at the very same Olympics.

Following the 2020 Summer Olympics, Grimes continued to make her mark in various swimming events. She won silver medals in the 1500-meter freestyle and the 400-meter individual medley at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships. In addition to her success in the pool, she also performed well in open-water events. She won the 10-kilometer marathon swim at the 2022 US Open Water National Championships and the national junior title in the 7.5-kilometer open water swim. Grimes won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the women's 400-meter individual medley swimming event.

Grimes' dedication to the sport has been recognized not only through medals but also through her personal achievements. She set the World Junior Record in the short course 1500m freestyle at the 2022 FINA Swimming World Cup, and her personal best time in the 1500 meter freestyle is 15:44.89, a testament to her continuous improvement and dedication to the sport. Her personal best time in the 400-meter individual medley is 4:32.67.

With her impressive portfolio, Grimes was named to the USA Swimming roster for the 10-kilometer marathon swim in open water swimming at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships. She placed fifth in this event. Grimes has also ranked as #39 on SwimSwam's Top 100 Women's list for 2022. As she continues to compete and progress, she remains under the guidance of her coach, Ron Aitken.
