Kent Thielen

Kent Thielen has held leadership roles within Mayo Clinic for over a decade, contributing to the organization's commitment to healthcare advancement. He currently serves as the Vice President of Mayo Clinic and the CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida, roles he has occupied since January 2019. Prior to these positions, Thielen held the title of chair for both the Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology in the Midwest from 2013 to 2018 and the Division of Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic from 2004 to 2013. His tenure within the Mayo Clinic spans 33 years, a testament to his dedication and commitment to the field.

Thielen's educational background aligns closely with his leadership roles within Mayo Clinic. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering physics from South Dakota State University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. His education continued at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education where he completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology, even serving as chief resident from 1993 to 1994. Thielen also completed a three-year combined fellowship in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at the same institution.

Throughout his career, Thielen has demonstrated a strong personal interest in innovative practice development. This includes the development of new technologies and delivery of image-guided spinal and neuroendovascular therapies. His passion for innovation, combined with his extensive knowledge and experience, also led him to serve as a professor of radiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. His multifaceted career in healthcare and education provides him with a wealth of knowledge to share with others.
