Kevin Mandia

Kevin Mandia is the President of FireEye, a global cyber security company that provides real-time threat protection to businesses and governments worldwide against the next generation of cyber attacks. He is acknowledged as a Cyber Security Expert and has significantly contributed to the field through his leadership roles and expertise. Mandia founded Mandiant Corporation and served as its CEO for 10 years before it was acquired by FireEye for approximately $1 billion. This acquisition further solidifies his pioneering role in emphasizing incident response within the information security industry.

Mandia's career began in the United States Air Force where he served as a computer security officer in the 7th Communications Group at the Pentagon. He has co-authored two influential books: "Incident Response: Performing Computer Forensics" and "Incident Response: Investigating Computer Crime", which have been crucial in shaping practices in the field of cyber forensics. With over 20 years of experience in information security, he has been instrumental in helping organizations prepare for and respond to cyber threats, affecting long-term business operations.

In addition to his technical and leadership prowess, Mandia is a recognized voice in the media for matters pertaining to cyber security, providing commentary for major outlets such as NBC News, CBS, NPR, Fox News, CNN, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He has testified as an expert in U.S. federal court and before U.S. House and Senate intelligence committees. In 2013, he was named by Foreign Policy as a leading global thinker. Furthermore, Mandia has been an educator, teaching advanced graduate classes on cyber security at George Washington University and Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a bachelor of science in computer science from Lafayette College and a master of science in forensic science from George Washington University. His achievements were recognized in 2011 when he was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Greater Washington area.
