Kikkan Randall

Kikkan Randall is an Olympic champion cross-country skier and a prominent figure in the sport with 29 World Cup podiums, 17 US National titles, and five Winter Olympic Games appearances. She started her Olympic journey in Salt Lake City in 2002, and has consistently achieved top positions, including the highest finish by an American woman at the World Championships, second in the Sprint in Liberec in 2009. Randall was the first American female cross-country skier to take a top ten finish in World Cup competition, to win a World Cup race, and to win a World Cup discipline title, topping the Sprint standings in the 2011-12 season.

Along with Jessie Diggins, Randall won the United States' first-ever cross-country skiing gold medal at the Winter Olympics in women's team sprint at Pyeongchang in 2018. This historic achievement made her and Diggins the first American cross-country skiers to win an Olympic gold medal in this category. Just over three months after achieving her lifelong goal, Randall was diagnosed with Stage 2 triple positive breast cancer. She underwent radiation treatments in 2020, and throughout her treatment, she has been an active advocate for breast cancer awareness and research.

Beyond her athletic achievements, Randall is recognized for her motivational speaking, particularly focusing on themes such as perseverance, teambuilding, and overcoming challenges. Drawing from her own experiences, including overcoming a significant health setback, she shares insights on personal growth and the importance of teamwork. Her efforts have extended into roles within the sport's governance, serving as a member of the International Ski Federation’s Athletes Commission and the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes Commission. Randall continues to inspire as a speaker, sharing her journey and the lessons learned from transforming the US women’s ski team into Olympic medal favorites. She is also a member of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating her contributions to sport and her community.
