Kim Godwin

Kimberly Godwin is a renowned American television executive and journalist. She began her journey in broadcast journalism at Florida A&M University. After graduation, she navigated diverse newsroom leadership roles in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.

In 2007, Godwin became part of CBS News, where she served in various roles, including the senior broadcast producer of CBS Evening News and executive vice president of News. Her tenure at CBS News was a testament to her leadership and her ability to communicate effectively, both internally within the organization and externally with the public. Godwin was named president of ABC News in April 2021, becoming the first black woman to lead a major American broadcast news network. After 3 years in the position, Godwin announced her departure as NBC News President and her retirement from the news business.

Godwin's contributions to journalism have been recognized with numerous awards, including six National News and Documentary Emmy Awards, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award, a Sigma Delta Chi Award, and the National Association of Black Journalists' Ida B. Wells Award. This recognition and her decision to resign from ABC News in May 2024 suggest a career marked by continuous growth, adaptability, and a strong capacity to engage audiences through effective communication.
