Kim Ng

Kim Ng, an executive in professional baseball's ranks for over 30 years, is the General Manager of the Miami Marlins. With her hiring in November of 2020, Ng became the first female General Manager of any major professional men’s sports team in North America. In 2021, she was recognized as the Best Hire in sports by the Sports Business Journal, Trailblazer of the Year by Baseball America, and she received the Billie Jean King Leadership Award from the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Prior to her current role, Ng spent nine years as Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations with Major League Baseball. In this capacity, she led a team that set policy for and enforced international signing rules, established protocols for signing international players, raised the standards for international baseball academies, and negotiated agreements with international winter leagues. Her responsibilities also included overseeing MLB playing initiatives for girls and women, growing the game of Baseball, and improving the quality of play, caliber of talent, and rate of participation for amateur baseball around the world.

Ng's extensive Major League Baseball career includes 21 years of front office experience with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers. She was part of teams that reached the postseason eight times, including six League Championship series and three World Championships with the Yankees. After starting her baseball career as an intern with the White Sox in 1990, Ng ascended to Assistant Director of Baseball Operations. She then spent one season as the Director of Waivers and Records for the American League Office in 1997 before taking on the role as Assistant General Manager of the New York Yankees from 1998-2001. During her tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers as Vice President and Assistant General Manager, Ng managed player transactions, club’s arbitration efforts, and oversaw the daily operations of the baseball department.

Ng graduated from the University of Chicago, where she played softball and earned a degree in Public Policy. She has appeared on Forbes’ list of the Most Influential Minorities in Sports, Forbes’ list of the Most Influential Women in Sports, and Adweek’s Most Powerful Women in Sports. Ng, who participated in the 2021 Presidential Inauguration as part of the Celebrating America event, also serves on the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, and the Anti-Defamation League’s Sports Leadership Council. She is involved with Kids in Sports Los Angeles, a non-profit organization providing sports programs for underserved youth.
