Kirby Wilbur

Kirby Wilbur was born in Washington DC and came to Seattle with his family at the age of 8. He graduated from Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington with a degree in History.

He worked for the King County Assessor as a field appraiser and started his own real estate appraisal firm, Liberty Consultants, in 1985. In 1993, he was hired by KVI Radio in Seattle, America’s first all-conservative talk radio station, for the 9-midnight shift. In January, 1995, he moved to 5-9 AM, the morning drive shift, where he worked until late November 2009.

He then worked as State Director of Americans for Prosperity until 2011, when he was elected chairman of the Washington State Republican Party. In the summer of 2013, he went to work for Young America’s Foundation to run their National Journalism Center. He left in the fall of 2015 to return to KVI, where he is currently the afternoon drive host.

Kirby has also taught US and World History, and other subjects to high school home school students during the past 20 years.

He has been involved in the conservative movement since high school. He has served on several national boards, such as Citizens United and the American Conservative Union. Kirby has attended eight Republican National Conventions as a delegate and/or an alternate. He is a life member of the National Rifle Association and the International Churchill Society. Kirby is married to his wife Trina, who he met on the 1980 Reagan Presidential Campaign. They have two sons and attend Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Maltby, Washington. He enjoys his family and friends, reading, John Wayne movies, recreational shooting (his caliber is .45) and an occasional cigar.
