Best known as one of the most versatile players in the history of the NFL, Kordell Stewart is currently an NFL Analyst and Broadcaster.
Stewart was a member of the broadcast team for the United Football League along with Doug Flutie, Dave Sims and Anita Marks that aired on the Versus Network (now named the NBC Sports Network). Also, Stewart formerly served as an analyst for ESPN News for NFL post game coverage. He also has made appearances on ESPN’s “First Take,” NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” and Spike TV’s “Pros vs. Joes.”
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft, Stewart immediately became a fan favorite during his time in Pittsburgh. Due to his ability to play a variety of positions (Quarterback/Wide Receiver/Running Back), he was given the name “Slash.”
Stewart became the Steelers starting quarterback in 1997, leading the team to an 11-5 record and the AFC Championship Game. That same year vs. Denver Broncos, he became the first quarterback to run for two touchdowns and pass for three in a single game.
In 2001, Stewart threw for over 3,000 yards in leading the Steelers back to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion, New England Patriots. That season, he was selected to the AFC Pro Bowl squad and was voted the Pittsburgh Steelers team MVP by his teammates. From 2003-05, Stewart started for the Chicago Bears and then became a backup for the Baltimore Ravens.
Stewart played his collegiate career at the University of Colorado, where he set then school records for most completions (456), passing yards (6,418) and touchdown passes (33). He is most remembered for one of the most exciting plays in the history of college football, the “Miracle at Michigan,” when Stewart threw a 64-yard hail mary and connected with receiver Michael Westbrook to beat the University of Michigan. In November 2018, Stewart was inducted into the University of Colorado Athletics Hall of Fame.
From 2015-2018, Kordell Stewart served as a co-host on the daily program No Huddle on Tune-In with Brian Webber. He previously was a co-host on 92.9FM The Game’s weekday program called “GameTime” with Carl Dukes broadcasted out of Atlanta, GA.
In February 2016, he authored the autobiography Truth: The Kordell Stewart Story. Also in 2016, Stewart was Inducted into the Allstate Sugar Bowl Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
Stewart is a proud supporter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and has made numerous visits to sick youth at various Children’s Hospitals. He resides in Atlanta, GA with his son Syre.
