Lauren Goshinski

Lauren Goshinski (aka Boo Lean) is a curator, researcher, event producer and DJ who works at the intersection of nightlife culture, the arts, and urban planning. Recognized as one of the “Top 50 Women Making Noise,” she has crafted some of the most forward-thinking dance floors and AV programs over the past decade.

Placekeeping is at the core of her practice. She brings together creative practitioners and communities across disciplines to spark unique and insightful connections and build bridges between creative scenes around the world. Delivering cutting-edge programming that blends music, performance, new media art and technology, she works with a global network of artists, venues, promoters, and organizations to produce immersive and innovative experiences that engage and inspire diverse audiences.

Goshinski curated “The Nighttime Lab” with DWIH and VibeLab at SXSW 2023, exploring strategies to save space for displaced and emerging diverse, creative communities throughout the city. She is known as a founder and curator of festivals and spaces like VIA Festival, New Forms Festival and Hot Mass. Past large-scale projects include AWC Lab, an art & technology collaboratory developed with Iyapo Repository; Weird Reality, one of the first US conferences to showcase independent visions in VR/MR/AR, co-curated with Golan Levin; NOWSEETHIS, an exhibition of performance, photography, and augmented reality for the launch of the Hillman Photography Initiative at the Carnegie Museum of Art; and T.GIF, an online March Madness-style tournament for net artists' original animated gifs.

Goshinksi has held positions as Program Director of PRTV at Public Records, NYC; Director of Exhibitions for Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media; curatorial fellow at the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University; and with GRAY AREA for Google's Artist in Residence Program. She is a board member for Resident Advisor, a mentor at NEW INC. at The New Museum, and has served on selection committees for Creative Capital and The Map Fund.
