Layne A. Longfellow

He created Lecture Theatre, the multi-media presentation of information through lecture, photo and video images, graphics and music. The purpose of Lecture Theatre is to present thought-provoking ideas and value-driven substance as entertainment. Dr. Longfellow has given more than 2,000 speeches and seminars internationally, ranging from musical theatre on cultural diversity, to "Stress" on Spectra Vision's in-room hotel TV programming.

In 1989, he innovated yet again, taking the Lecture Theatre format into general audience and corporate presentations on the environment. The corporate world was not ready to hear it then. Nearly twenty years later, we're all quite ready -- for the topic of our time.

As former director of Executive Seminars for The Menninger Foundation, Dr. Longfellow designed and conducted training for principal executives of major multinational corporations. In 1978, he established Lecture Theatre, Inc., and in 1983, The Institute for Human Skills.

Dr. Longfellow is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna cum Laude graduate of Ohio University. He received his Doctorate in Experimental Psychology from the University of Michigan, where he was a Fellow of the National Science Foundation and the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. He was a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Fellow with Dr. Carl Rogers. He has published research in medical and scientific journals, and created feature articles for Psychology Today magazine.

As Vice President of Prescott College, he designed a curriculum so innovative it was described in World Book Encyclopedia, pioneering the integration of wilderness experience with academic studies. He developed Executive Wilderness Seminars at The Menninger Foundation and expanded this format to Canada's Banff Centre, where expeditions included mountaineering, rafting, canoeing, sailing and skiing. These programs combine environmental awareness with personal development, through intensive wilderness experiences.
