Léa Seydoux was born the 1st of July, 1985 in Paris. She grew up between Paris and Senegal, where her mother still lives. After graduating from school, a very shy Léa decided with a friend to take some theatre course at the Enfants Terribles where she was for a year which led her to audition for a few film roles. In 2006, she was cast as one of the main characters of “Mes Copines” (“My Classmates”), a teenage comedy about four girls whose dream is to win a dancing contest. Directly after that she got a part in Catherine Breillat’s “Une Vieille Maîtresse” (2007), followed by Jean-Pierre Mocky’s “13 French Street” and a short by Nicolas Klotz called “La Consolation” which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.
In 2008, she starred with Samy Naceri in “Des Poupées et des Anges” and then with Guillaume Depardieu in Bertrant Bonello’s “De La Guerre“. Her breakthrough role came just after that when Christophe Honoré chose her to embody a modern Princess of Cleves in “La Belle Personne” alongside the talented Louis Garrel. This particular role gained her international attention and praise: she won the 2009 Chopard Award for “Best Upcoming Actress” as well as being nominated in the prestigious César Awards for “Meilleur Espoir Féminin” (“Most Promising Actress”), an award that eventually went to Déborah François.
Following that, she made Sébastien Lifshitz’s “Plein Sud” and Jessica Hausner’s “Lourdes”, a short film by Louis Garrel named “Petit Tailleur” and Rebecca Zlotowski’s “Belle Épine” which again, gained her incredible reviews and praise and for which she was again nominated as “Meilleur Espoir Féminin” in the 2011’s César Awards.
Most recently, we have seen her in Djamshed Usmonov’s “Le Roman de Ma Femme“, Amos Gitai’s “Roses à Crédit“, in a very small role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds” and as the lovely Gabrielle ,the antiques dealer, in Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris“.
Léa was in “M:I Ghost Protocol” with Tom Cruise and Benoit Jacquot’s historic drama “Farewell, My Queen” alongside Diane Kruger.
She was cast as Bond Girl, Madeleine Swann, in "Spectre," the 24th installment of the James Bond series.
