Leen Govaerts Biography
Leen Govaerts has more than 15 years of experience in policy-oriented research on sustainable urban development. At present she is leading the research unit Smart Energy and Built Environment dealing with sustainable energy and urban sustainability. She represents VITO in the board of Energyville, a research association on sustainable energy and cities between VITO, KULeuven and IMEC. She is involved in several international networks and has experience in coordinating several European research consortia (e.g. IEE, Framework program). She is recognized expert on behalf of the Flemish Government to evaluate sustainability aspects for granting subsidies for renewal of urban districts.
