Linda Lutton is an award-winning education reporter for WBEZ, the NPR-affiliate station in Chicago. Her original coverage has examined Chicago’s dropout crisis, segregation in schools, school performance, and youth violence. She covered the 2012 Chicago teachers’ union strike and the historic closing of 50 Chicago public schools. Prior to joining WBEZ, Lutton covered education across 85 school districts in Chicago’s south suburbs for the Daily Southtown. She has also worked as a freelance reporter in Michoacán, Mexico. Lutton was a 2014–15 Spencer Fellow in Education Reporting. She is also the 2004 recipient of a Studs Terkel Award for reporting on Chicago’s diverse communities.
