Ludwig Göransson

Ludwig Göransson is a composer, conductor, record producer, and songwriter. He is known for his work on "Black Panther, "Creed," "Venom," and the Rocky franchise, including "Creed II." He is a frequent collaborator of director Ryan Coogler and rapper Childish Gambino, with whom he has worked on several studio albums, including "Camp," "Because the Internet," and "Awaken, My Love!"

Born and raised in Sweden, Göransson moved to the United States in 2007 to study in the Scoring for Motion Picture and Television program at the University of Southern California. After graduating, he began his career by assisting composer Theodore Shapiro and working on films like "Marley & Me" and "Jennifer's Body." His breakthrough came in 2009 when he started composing for the NBC comedy series "Community," which would later expand to other TV series like "New Girl" and "The Mandalorian." He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series for both season 1 and season 2 of "The Mandalorian."

His feature film debut as a composer was the critically acclaimed drama "Fruitvale Station," directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan. Later that year, he also composed the score for the comedy film "We're the Millers." Göransson continued his partnership with Ryan Coogler, working on "Creed" in 2015 and Marvel's "Black Panther" in 2018. He also scored several other films, such as "Tenet" and "Turning Red."

In addition to film composition, Göransson is also a music producer, often working with Childish Gambino. He was a co-writer and producer on Gambino's debut album, "Camp," and the follow-up album "Because the Internet." He continued this collaboration with the production of "Awaken, My Love!," featuring the hit single, "Redbone." The album and song earned Göransson his first Grammy nomination. He produced Childish Gambino's 2018 single "This Is America," which won two Grammy Awards.

Göransson's impressive work has earned him multiple awards, including four Grammy Awards for "This Is America" in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Best Music Video. He won a Grammy award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for his work on "Black Panther." At the 91st Annual Academy Awards, Göransson received the Oscar for Best Original Score for "Black Panther," and the Golden Globe Award for the original score of "Oppenheimer" in 2024. His prolific career also includes producing for other recording artists such as Adele, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Chance the Rapper, Haim, Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Moses Sumney.
