Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is a Slovenian professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association. Drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 3rd pick overall, but then later traded to the Dallas Mavericks, Doncic was considered the top foreign prospect to enter the 2018 NBA Draft. He was selected unanimously to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and won Rookie of the Year for the 2018–19 season. In his sophomore season, he was selected to his first NBA All-Star game and named to the All-NBA First Team. On August 9, 2021, he signed a five-year $207 million rookie extension with the Mavericks, the largest in NBA history. Donic played for Slovenia in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where his team did not medal but did make a valiant effort at the semi-finals.

Prior to coming over to the U.S., he competed internationally for Real Madrid. In 2017, Doncic was named the Spanish League's Best Young Player and a EuroLeague Rising Star. He originally joined Real Madrid in 2015 and contributed to teams that won back-to-back league titles in 2015 and 2016. In October 2017, Doncic was named EuroLeague MVP of the Month. He became the youngest player named Player of the Month in the Spanish League the following January. Doncic has also played for the Slovenian National Team and helped them win a gold medal at the 2017 EuroBasket. He is the future of the Dallas Mavericks.
