Luke Combs is a country music singer and songwriter. Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Combs began his musical journey at Appalachian State University and moved to Nashville in 2014 to pursue his career. His early journey includes the release of his debut EP, "The Way She Rides," in 2014, paving the way for a successful career in country music.
Combs' first single, "Hurricane," sold 15,000 copies in its first week, and debuted at No. 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. After being re-released under Sony Music Nashville, the song reached No. 1 on the Country Radio airplay charts on May 15, 2017, holding that spot for 2 weeks. His debut album, "This One's for You," hit number four on the Billboard 200 and spent 44 weeks at No. 1, setting a new record. Combs continued his career with the release of his second album, "What You See Is What You Get," which topped the charts in multiple territories and produced several number-one singles on the country chart, shattering streaming records. He released a deluxe version of this album with five new songs in 2020.
His third album, "Growin' Up," was released on June 24, 2022, and includes the singles "Doin' This", "The Kind of Love We Make", and "Going, Going, Gone". A year later, Combs released his fourth album, "Gettin' Old," on March 24, 2023, which includes his popular cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car." This cover not only became popular on Spotify, but it also reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of the cover led to a duet performance with Tracy Chapman at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2024.
Throughout his career, Combs has demonstrated his prowess in the country music scene by winning numerous awards. These include two iHeart Radio Music Awards, four Academy of Country Music Awards, and six Country Music Association Awards. He was named the Entertainer of the Year at the 2021 and 2022 Country Music Association Awards and won Single of the Year at the 57th Annual Country Music Association Awards in November 2023. Combs, being the first artist to send the first five singles to No. 1 on the Country Airplay Chart, has earned three Grammy Award nominations and has been invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2019.
Combs has been on several tours, including the Don't Tempt Me with a Good Time Tour, Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour, and Luke Combs World Tour. He also collaborated with Ed Sheeran on the single "Life Goes On" in May 2023. Off the stage, Combs has been open about his struggle with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He has been in a relationship with Nicole Hocking since early 2016 and they were married on August 1, 2020.
